Depressed because I am lazy and lazy because I am depressed
The symptoms of depression and anxiety work to maintain the illness but what if rather than giving into these symptoms and criticising yourself for being “lazy” you actually listened to your bodies need for rest and how much fuel you have in the tank so to speak?
Everything we do takes energy and we are just like car’s burning fuel and can only go so long and cope with so much before we burn out.
That lethargy you are feeling is your bodies way of signalling it has run out of fuel and is in a collapsed nervous system state (read more about this on our posts about the Polyvagal Ladder).
